I realized I hadn’t posted my activity spreadsheet from December so here it is. As usual click on it to see a larger image:
I got in a total of 1310 minutes of activity in December and surpassed my goals for the monthly challenge: Determined in December. I also surpassed my weight loss goal by losing 10.6lbs over the month (my goal was 8lbs).
The January challenge has started on the forums as well. It’s called January Jumpstart. My goals for this month are not greater than before, they remain: 8lbs and 1200 minutes. I want to focus on maintaining my current level of weight loss and activity to allow my body to get used to it instead of constantly pushing it to a point where I can’t keep it up.
So far this month I’ve logged in 440 activity minutes! You can always check out my progress on my Challenges page.
Phew! What a week it has been. I’ve travelled provinces to spend the holidays with my family, have had a completely different schedule, and eaten so much!
My strategy for the week before I went into it was to eat enough to feel comfortable, indulge a little bit, and exercise every day except on traveling days. So far so good. We’ll see what my Tuesday weigh-in says, but I’m feeling pretty good that I did not gain. I’m not expecting to lose a lot (and definitely not the 2lbs I need to hit 50lbs lost) but I’m pretty sure I can expect staying the same.
So how did my strategy work out? So far pretty good! I have eaten a lot of my points, in fact I only have 10 weekly points left (which I don’t plan on using up tomorrow). I had a great xmas eve and xmas dinner. Lots of good food, yummy turkey, and chocolate. Oh Toblerone! You are my weakness. But I didn’t eat nearly as much as I would have a year ago. I took smaller portions, filled up on veggies, and took appropriate sized desserts (yes, more than one!). I was never completely stuffed, but rather comfortable with some indulgences.
What makes me feel great about this week, however, is that I managed to exercise every day (except my traveling day) so far! So far I have gotten in 28 activity points. On Tuesday I did a great 45 minute walk home from work over the mountain. Wednesday, I hit the gym for 60 mins on the elliptical and 40 mins of weight training. Thursday was a day off due to traveling. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I did a 50 minute video at my parent’s house each morning (Walk Away the Pound Express 3-mile). It was a great way to start the day. I might be able to get some exercise in tomorrow (which is also a traveling day) which would be a bonus, but regardless – back to eating well tomorrow. No more snacking on the occassional chocolate here and there just because they’re around.
To make this week even better… I’ve been wearing my size 14 jeans comfortably the whole time! I even tried on some old dresses while at my mom’s place, turns out my old prom and semi-formal dresses are now too big. What a great feeling. 🙂 In fact I can even fit into my mom’s old dress from before she had my brother. It made my week!

Let me tell you – I did NOT want to go to the gym this weekend. I have been sick all week with an annoying cough and a cold that has hit my sinuses. I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in about a week now and the last thing I wanted to do this weekend was workout.
I had planned to go Saturday, but after a day of running basic errands I was left completely exhausted. Then Sunday night rolls around and I realize that I haven’t been to the gym since last Thursday thanks to going out of town the weekend prior.
So I decided that I was going to go. My cough had subsided, my nose wasn’t running anymore. I have spray down the machines after I use them anyways so really I had no excuse.
Well how happy am I that I went! WOW! I always forget how great I feel after a good workout. I went a bit slower on the elliptical then I normally do – an average of 141 strides/min rather than 149, but I was able to still do the same incline and resistance and maintained it for 60 minutes! I was also able to put in a good 35 minutes weight training, and even upped my weights in some instances.
I need to remember this next time I’m being whiney. Getting to the gym makes me feel great.
I have to remember that losing weight and getting healthy are a priority for me. I do not want to plateau or worse, re-gain the weight.
A new month means a new challenge on the WW forums. This month’s challenge is called Determined in December. My goal for the month of December is to lose 8lbs and 1200mins of activity. I realize this won’t get me to my Mini Goal #2 (to be be under 200lbs by 2011) but that’s okay. I’m going to leave my goal as is and get as close as I can. I have no intention of giving up. Getting under 200lbs is still a short-term goal whether it happens in the next month or in January.
The November challenge has ended and I’m happy to report that I lost 10lbs and did 1510 minutes of activity! Yippee! I surpassed both my weight loss and activity goals 🙂
Since September I have been tracking my activity in spreadsheets. I’ve never done this before, but am finding it a very useful tool. It helps me keep accurate track of how much I’m moving and pushes me to outdo myself each month. I’ve decided to post my excel sheets for the last three months. My activity totals listed here for September and October are higher than posted on my Challenges page because I was taking a physical theatre course. I wanted to keep track of this, but I didn’t think the exercise was intense enough to qualify for activity points.
