Weigh-in Week 189: Up 0.1lb

So on Tuesday I was up 0.1lbs for a new weight of 162.1lbs and total loss of 89.5lbs.  That’s not too bad considering I had my first major xmas party of the season. I didn’t watch what I ate as much as I should have – I had a bit of a free-for-all with some YUMMY fresh baked goods from a local bakery! Bread and bread products…yup, still my weakness.

I have a bunch of events coming up this week, but I’m ready for them. I’m going to make a very conscious decision to ask myself each time whether or not I really want to eat something or am I just eating out of habit.

Last month at the WW meetings we were talking about slowing down how we eat by taking a sip of water between bites. I have been actively trying this out and let me tell you – it’s harder then it sounds!! Now I grew up in a house where dinner-time was for eating not talking. We didn’t sit around and chat, we sat, ate, and got up. So I tend to eat quickly. I’ve been trying this at home on my own and it is not easy – it seems to take so long to eat!! But I will say, I definitely feel fuller after and stay satiated longer. So that’s a good thing.

I have a big dinner coming up this weekend where I will actively try to take my time while eating. There is often lots of food but also lots of great company so my focus will be on that and not on the food. I will pick and choose my favourites and not try to cram everything on my plate. That is my goal! Oh the holidays are approaching!!!

Weigh-in Week 188: Feeling Confident

Ooph! I’m late on this post. But not because I didn’t want to or because I gained, but rather because the days just got away from me and I didn’t have time to sit down for a proper post! This week I was down 1.2lbs for a new weight of 162.0lbs and a total loss of 89.6lbs.

Last week went pretty well for the most part. Well I mean it did in terms of weight loss, but to be honest I wasn’t really expecting it. I was doing well until Saturday and ate a bit more then my daily points (but not over my weekly points) and I felt bloated Sunday, Monday, and even Tuesday morning. I find that now, at my current weight I REALLY feel even the slightest changes in my body – like bloating. When I was at my biggest, or heck, even over 200lbs I could easily gain and/or lose 10lbs and not notice. I’m serious. If you’ve ever been over 200lbs you know exactly what I’m talking about.

This week is going ok, but with the bloating sometimes I don’t have a very accurate sense of how my weigh-in will be. This week remains to be seen, but overall I am feeling better about my eating. I think I’m making better choices portion-wise and I’m definitely feeling more in control – which is always a nice feeling especially in December! The holiday parties have started already and there’s always a lot of temptations about. My first party of the season was last Friday and at the end of the night there was tons of food left over – my friend was offering leftover food  – loaves of bread, cheesecakes etc. What did I end up taking?? A large bowl of salad (spring mix and veggies without dressing)! Yahoo for good choices!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone!

Things seem to be turning up this week, but I guess we’ll see tomorrow on the scale (as long as I don’t blow it today!! I do have a bbq today) I made these cookies for work – shortbread cut-outs – and only 3 points per cookie (2 for the cookie and 1 for the icing) using this shortbread recipe here on Sweetopia. Be sure to double-check the points based on how many cookies you make. I halved the recipe and with my cutter I they came out 2 points each.

Weight Loss

Weigh-In Week 141: Oh, there’s that holiday gain…

Yup. So back to my Tuesday meetings and I’m up 1.8lbs today for a new weight of 150.8lbs and a total loss of 100.8lbs. Yay for staying with the 100lb loss though! Phew.

To be honest, this was very expected. I ate a lot. I ate a lot of cookies. I ate too much. I was within my weekly points (I think, lots of guesstimating going on also), but I usually can’t eat more than half if I want a loss. I am also feeling very bloated.  I notice that monthly fluctuations in my body make themselves known much more readily now that I’m at a smaller weight. I can feel and see the bloating whereas I didn’t really notice it before.

I also had a big holiday dinner with friends this past weekend and easily ate more at that dinner than I  did at my actual X-mas eve, X-mas, and New Year’s Eve dinners!  I also made perogies from scratch for said dinner and, as we all know, they are not the most point or calorie friendly food on the planet 😉

I have some pretty big challenges coming up this week and I might also have to change the day of my weigh-in day. Stay tuned for some information coming up the next couple of days about that. But I will say it makes me a tad nervous as I feel like Tuesday weigh-ins have been a secret of my success all these years. We’ll see what the next week brings.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate!  May this coming year be filled with joy and love for you all.

No weigh-in today, but I will on Thursday – here’s hoping the week hasn’t been too disastrous scale-wise, and even if it has – I can and will get back on track. The important part is time spent with family, friends, and loved ones.

Christmas…and the decorations…have arrived!

I won’t lie. I’ve been decorating…I’ve been decorating a lot. It bring a little joy into my life. I love xmas and xmas decorations.

These are chocolate truffles I made for my holiday dinner:

This is my little tree! It’s about 3′ tall! I found a tall terracotta pot it could fit into and put a water container inside. Voila! No tree stand needed (it’s too small for one anyways)
